Here you are in your 2nd trimester, you are wondering, "Should I get maternity photos?", the answer I will give you is YES, 100% Yes! Not only am I a photographer who, of course, would love to capture all of your most memorable moments, I am also a mother of two beautiful boys. I never had even thought that I could hire someone to take my photograph for me at the time I was pregnant with my children. Even though I had already been taking photos for quite some time before expecting, somehow I didn't think of it. I guess it would be part of that brain fog they talk about so much while being pregnant... anyway, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't want to kick myself for not really even having any photos of me showing my sweet baby bump (no matter how "uncute" I thought I was).Capturing this moment in your life is A MUST HAVE! If not for you, do it for your sweet newborn baby that is coming right around the corner. When your baby is getting older, they will LOVE to see photos of themselves before they were even born! No matter the age, children find it fascinating that they were inside their mother's tummy for nearly 40 weeks!! Some tips to get you that beautiful bump photo you are looking for are simple. Hire your photographer as early as you can for both Maternity and Newborn photos, some photographers offer a Maternity and Newborn session discount if you are lucky. (BTW, if you choose me, I definitely have that option!) The best photos will be able to be captured in your 3rd trimester, preferably between weeks 30 through 36. Keep to solid neutral colored clothing or something with small patterned flowers or the like. The reason for this is so that your belly is the center of the attention! Stay away from bright colored clothing as it can change the skin color of you or anyone in your photos. Choose flowing dresses that can be thrown into the air during that snap of the camera to make it look as if you are floating into motherhood. Long trains are awesome for this. Lace dresses or a two piece top and tutu bottom look absolutely stunning as well! Looking for a more affordable option? Picking up some chiffon or lace or look alike material at your local fabric shop and wrapping it around your body can also be very beautiful. Just be sure to keep your photographer in the loop so you know just how much material you will need and if the weather and location permits for this apparel. If you are less modest and feel you could bare to show more skin, opting for a tube top and long flowing skirt is a great choice too. Above are some photos of a cute couple who decided to capture those beautiful moments of pregnancy and I tell you, they were so happy they did!
